Eyeliner glamour
Eyeliner defines and shapes your eyes. It imparts a sleek glamour – as long as it is applied to perfection! Smudged or wonky lines are the epitome of un-chic… Here are some tips. Remember, practice makes perfect. It’s unlikely to work the first time so keep trying.
Gently pull the skin above your eye taut with your left hand, then apply the eye liner with your right hand. (Left-handers, reverse the instructions.)
Don’t attempt to shut the eye you are lining. Instead, tilt your head back and look into the mirror through narrowed eyes. Keeping both eyes open will help your precision.
Rest the elbow of the arm of the hand doing the lining on a surface to keep it steady. Some people rest the little finger of this hand on the tip of their nose, or cheek, to steady it further.
Draw the line right up against your own lash line. Some people like to line in a continuous sweep. Others use short, feathery strokes. Whatever works for you…
If you can’t get on with liquid liner, try a twist-up pencil version. It must be soft and easy to draw with, otherwise it might drag at the delicate skin around your eye.
Use a cotton bud to soften the line if you like, or to smooth out wobbles.
Think Audrey Hepburn, Mary Quant, Liza Minelli as Sally Bowles, and keep trying!
